Dunn Street Primary School in South Tyneside is creating possible lovers of greenhouses and gardening of the future and it has been recognised for its efforts with an award in this year's Northumbria in Bloom.
The school was given the trophy as part of the Growing Together Scheme which in particular praised the school for the quality of its garden and the love of horticulture they are trying to instil into the pupils.
Headteacher of the school Stewart Reader told the Shields Gazette it places great emphasis on horticulture and it has a thriving after-school gardening club.
"We were delighted to win the Northumbria in Bloom award for horticultural excellence. There were more than 50 schools competing, with entries from an area stretching all the way from North Yorkshire to Cumbria," he added.
Mr Reader also said the school gets involved in gardening projects in the local community.
The Growing Together scheme was introduced last year to recognise and reward the excellent work schools do to get children involved in gardening.
