Organic food 'good for animals and the environment'

Greenhouse enthusiasts who choose organic food are helping to protect animals and the environment, an expert has suggested.
Richard Jacobs, chief executive of Organic Farmers & Growers, said animal welfare is "enshrined" in the working methods of organic farmers.
Environmental protection is also a huge part of what they do, he continued, as it is a critical part of the techniques used.
Mr Jacobs went on to suggest that consumers are making choices based on how they see their suppliers behaving, especially when it comes to the natural world.
"Do they want to buy from a high animal welfare source?" he asked. "And do they want to buy from a system that protects the environment and enhances the environment, looks after the soils and increases biodiversity on farms? Organic ticks those boxes."
Tim Rumball, editor of Amateur Gardening magazine, recently said growing plants in a garden or greenhouse can be of "immense personal benefit" to individuals who get involved and can even change their world view, particularly when it comes to the environment.
