Ronnie Wood reveals passion for gardening

16:59 13th July 2011

Greenhouse enthusiasts might be surprised to learn that Ronnie Wood has revealed he has a new passion in life - gardening.

The Rolling Stones guitarist told the Evening Standard how pottering around in his outside space and pulling up weeds help him stay off alcohol.

Wood, 64, a former alcoholic who has been clean for 16 months, revealed how his west London home is awash with tranquillity.

"It has a beautiful landscaped garden which is like a controlled jungle and it just goes with my new house," he said. "I'm getting stuck in and doing a bit more than just weeding.

"It's just great with my new-found base. The inside and outside are both right up my street. I get on very well with mastering my own space."

Wood also revealed that he and his Rolling Stones bandmates are planning a series of gigs to mark their 50th anniversary next year, including a recreation of their 1969 show in Hyde Park.ADNFCR-2584-ID-800621090-ADNFCR
