Gardens 'should be personalised'

11:31 30th June 2011

Greenhouse enthusiasts need to make their outside space as individual as they can to ensure they take good care of it, according to one expert.

By making a garden unique to the person looking after it, Royal Horticultural Society shows organiser Bob Sweet explained, "they will then perhaps think about the way in which they can plant it and look after it because gardens are very personal to us".

He went on to point out that it is always best to think about what a garden will be used for when designing it.

An outside space that will be used for barbeques will be very different to one that is to be a showcase of delicate plants and bright colours, the expert remarked.

On top of that, the expert continued, a garden that is going to be full of colours throughout the summer is going to need "a lot more time and attention to maintain it and maintenance is the key for any garden".ADNFCR-2584-ID-800606745-ADNFCR
