Gardening comedy on show this summer in Edinburgh
16:52 20th June 2011
Greenhouse and gardening enthusiasts may be interested to hear about a new musical comedy all about horticulture that will be performing at Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden this summer.
Comedy songwriter Jo Stephenson and fellow performer Dan Woods created the show to celebrate the joys of working on growing your own produce.
Ms Stephenson said: "Both Dan and I are genuine allotment holders and our show is inspired by our experiences of attempting to grow veg and the characters we meet down the allotment."
Highlights of the show include a 1980s-style power ballad to Alan Titchmarsh, a rap duel between an angry gardener and a slug and a song called John Innes: Who is He?, as well as Gardeners' Question Time "as you have never heard it before".
Can You Dig It? by Jo Stephenson and Dan Woods is at the Royal Botanic Garden (Patrick Geddes Room) as pat of the Edinburgh Festival fringe from August 5th to 29th.
