Tulips 'great for pots and the compost heap'

Greenhouse enthusiasts may be interested to hear tulips look beautiful in pots and can do wonders for the compost heap, an expert has suggested.
In an article for the Daily Telegraph, editor of Thinking Gardens Anne Wareham said she has enjoyed great success with these flowers by planting them according to how their colours complement each other.
Once they begin to flower, Ms Wareham moves them into her conservatory where they brighten the place up and she can enjoy them properly.
The other thing she does with tulips once they stop flowering is to dump them on the compost heap.
"They sometimes flower again there and that's an unusual and brightening sight when you have to take the peelings out," she added.
According to the Daily Mail, any tulips that do not look perky enough in the Queen Victoria Memorial Gardens at Buckingham Palace on the day of the royal wedding later this month will be removed.
