Gardeners 'should get online'

Greenhouse and gardening enthusiasts should explore the thriving online community of gardeners, it has been suggested.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Nigel Colborn revealed there are people out in cyberspace that can help with plant identification, give advice on pests and help decide which seeds to pick.
He went on to say that the problem with online gardening is not a lack of information but an overabundance.
BBC Gardening and the Royal Horticultural Society were both highlighted as great resources, while delphinium expert David Bassett's instruction pages were also praised.
In addition, Mr Colborn commented, there are some excellent blogs where ideas and tricks can be learned and exchanged.
"As for Twitter, go there only if you want to be gossiping day and night with 500 virtual pals. And you won't get anything done in the garden," he added.
In other gardening technology news, Carla Allen recently explained in the Yarmouth County Vanguard how devices such as iPhones and iPads have plenty of apps that can give horticulturalists a helping hand.
