What to buy a greenhouse fan this Christmas

12:38 7th December 2010

Garden and greenhouse fans are notoriously difficult to buy for at Christmas as the festive season comes at a time of year when their ability to practise their hobby is limited.

The recent snow and ice has also made it even tougher for growers, who have been confined to staying indoors.

However, the Independent has come up with some ideas for Christmas gifts that might just put a smile on their faces.

Mark Diacono's A Taste of the Unexpected is a great book for those looking to grow more unusual food in their garden and greenhouse in 2011.

As well as planting and care instructions, the publication also features recipes for using the food in cooking.

The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Horticultural Show Handbook and gift vouchers for Medwyn's Seeds, which carries seeds for super-sized vegetables, could also be great gifts for those planning to get into show gardening.

In other news, the RHS recently gave away a £2,500 diamond to celebrate the 60th birthday of Garden Harlow Carr.ADNFCR-2584-ID-800276401-ADNFCR
