A horticultural event in Yorkshire is set to celebrate a milestone year when it opens its gates next month.
The Ripon City Allotment Society will celebrate its 30th anniversary on September 4th, with garden and greenhouse enthusiasts encouraged to come along from 12:30 BST for free entry.
It features a competition with a total of 108 different categories, which cater from experts to complete novices.
According to the Darlington and Stockton Times, the show will include eight sections for kids and ten for beginners.
It will focus on fruit and vegetable growing, which is more popular than at any time since the second world war, chairman Roger Satariano told the newspaper.
"All Ripon's council-owned allotment sites are fully occupied and there is a substantial waiting list for plots," he said.
In other news, the Staffordshire Sentinel recently spoke to 74-year-old grower John Baker, who explained how he loves growing his own food on the allotment he tends with his niece.
