Garden and greenhouse enthusiasts have been encouraged to head to the Royal Horticultural Society's (RHS) Garden Wisley this summer.
The attraction houses the Portsmouth Field, which is being used to trial a number of beautiful sweet pea varieties that are sure to impress the public.
RHS sweet pea subcommittee chairman Jim McDonald admitted to being excited to see a number of the flowers, especially the bi-coloured Duo Salmon from Unwin Seeds, which is currently only available on mail order.
The flower gained top marks last year and may win an Award of Garden Merit (AGM), with the expert adding that "it gave a stunning display which melted the hearts of all the judging panel".
A total of 22 varieties are on show that are not yet in commerce, with all six fancy colours represented.
These include blue picotee on pale blue ground, pink marble on white, pink picotee edge on white, lavender stripe on white, pink and white stripe and pink ripple with white rear of flower.
In other news, RHS has opened its £3.3 million education centre at its Garden Harlow Carr site.
