RHS to provide pinks and carnations tips
18:31 18th May 2010
Garden and greenhouse growers who love pinks and carnations may wish to add a couple of dates to their diary for next month.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is set to host two events specialising in the fragrant flowers and enthusiasts should make themselves available on June 29th and 30th.
RHS Garden Wisley is to be the venue for the British National Carnation Society Show, which will take place on the Monday in Hillside Events Centre.
This will be followed up on the Tuesday by the site's open day, which will focus on pinks and carnations with a propagation and growing display, followed by two talks from experts.
Visitors will be shown how easy it is to grow the pretty flowers during a morning practical session, which will be enhanced by an afternoon lecture from RHS carnation and pinks sub-committee member Carolyn Whetman on how careful breeding is securing the future of the plants.
Furthermore, attendees might enjoy heading from RHS rock garden plant committee member Jim Jermyn, who will discuss how to grow the alpine Dianthus.
