British garden and greenhouse enthusiasts are increasingly turning to the internet for all their horticultural needs.
According to a recent study, the online gardening industry has grown rapidly over the past few years and is set to continue to do so.
Horticulture week revealed that the AMA Internet Garden Products Market UK 2010-2014 report predicted that online sales of such products could even double over the next four years.
It noted that this is partially down to the number of families now online - 70 per cent of the households in the UK are now connected, representing a 28 per cent rise between 2006 and 2009.
"The internet garden products market is estimated to be worth around £160 million at retail prices in 2009, a 28 per cent increase on the previous year," the report explained.
Figures were taken both from specialist e-tailers and non-specialists firms which happen to stock gardening items.
In other news, the Royal Horticultural Society is hosting a number of events this year where gardeners can pick up products in person.
