Advice for garden and greenhouse Northumberland enthusiasts
16:38 23rd March 2010
Northumberland garden and greenhouse fans were today (March 23rd) given the opportunity to put their horticulture questions to a seasoned expert.
Bob Tridgett - a Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) silver gilt winner and a former BBC Gardener of the Year - stopped by a local garden centre to distribute advice.
The Morpeth Herald revealed that the expert hosted a question and answer session at Heighley Gate, with visitors able to tap into his reservoir of knowledge.
General manager Roger Wale explained that the event offered a unique opportunity for attendees to get some bespoke specialist knowledge.
In the run-up to the day, Mr Tridgett told the newspaper that he was looking forward to sharing his wisdom with others.
"People may want suggestions on what to plant where, or what plant combinations go together, and I will be happy to suggest what I think would work for their garden," he said.
Meanwhile, the RHS has reported that scientists in Wales are experimenting with a food garden based on the natural layers of a forest ecosystem to see if the technique could be applied to UK gardens.
