Norfolk councillor to offer grow-your-own tips to greenhouse enthusiasts

Local officials in Norfolk are to teach local residents about the benefits of growing their own fruit and vegetables.
With growing numbers of Britons now shunning supermarket-bought produce in favour of growing their own food, Waveney Green Party councillor Graham Elliott is to team up with his green-fingered wife Nicky to share their horticultural knowledge with people in the village of Barsham.
According to the Beccles and Bungay Journal, the grow-your-own workshops will see the couple give hands-on tips about issues such as planting and then preserving their produce over the next few weeks.
Nicky explained to the newspaper: "We are continually being asked to run workshops to share our skills."
She added that she has found that people are becoming "increasingly worried about the quality of food", as well as about the price of produce, and she hopes that this will encourage more people to get into their greenhouses or gardens and get growing.
News of the workshops comes soon after the Northern Echo advised people that planting sunflower seeds in their greenhouses will help them grow faster and stronger once they are moved outside.
