Plant firms to work in unison

16:10 6th January 2010

A pair of horticultural organisations are set to work together to their mutual benefit, it has been claimed.

Worcestershire-based garden centre company Webbs is currently in talks with Garden Organic - a charitable organisation - over a possible deal to run its retail operations, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) revealed.

The proposals would also see Webbs take over the conferencing and catering sections of the business at Garden Organic's Ryton site.

This would leave the charity free to concentrate on maintaining its 8.9-hectare organic garden and allow more time and resources to be dedicated to the administration of its charity work and research.

The union should help to boost the profile of Garden Organic, while visitors will also be able to access the charity's extensive Heritage Seed Library.

An announcement confirming the deal is expected to be made in early February.

The Ryton site is located approximately three miles west of Coventry Airport.ADNFCR-2584-ID-19542982-ADNFCR
