The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is celebrating after welcoming its 10,000th Campaign for School Gardening member.
Compton Church of England Primary School from Newbury in Berkshire was the institution to hit the landmark and teacher Sharon Annetts explained that being part of the initiative would benefit staff and pupils.
"We are so pleased to be the 10,000th school to register with the RHS scheme and we plan to plant our new fruit tree on our school allotment for all to see," she said.
The tree in question was a plum tree presented to the school along with an engraved plaque by RHS head of education Dr Ruth Taylor.
Since it was first established in 2007, the RHS Campaign for School Gardening has helped over 2.5 million pupils across the UK try their hand at growing.
Meanwhile the RHS-recommended Walled Garden at Scampston, Yorkshire has been named as one of the area's top tourism attractions.
