RHS show to focus on environment

17:20 26th June 2009

Visitors to next month's Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Hampton Court Palace Flower Show are set to be educated on how environmental issues can impact their lives as garden and greenhouse enthusiasts.

One of the main attractions is set to show how climate change has and might affect green spaces between 1950 and 2050.

The display was created by Sarah Eberle and will show how gardens could become completely dry by the middle of the 21st century.

A follow-up exhibit will educate attendees on how environmental technology such as wind turbines, ground source heat pumps and bio fuels could not only help provide power, but help fight global warming too.

Visitors will also learn about energy-supporting crops, heat-conserving insulation and porous paving, to help deal with flooding.

Elsewhere in the show, horticulturalists have the chance to pick up tips on growing their own food, with the RHS recently revealing one of the themes will be how to cultivate a curry.ADNFCR-1545-ID-19239140-ADNFCR
