Spears tries her hand at horticulture

Pop sensation Britney Spears has reportedly turned to gardening as a means of therapy.

The Toxic, Womaniser and Oops I Did It Again singer has taken up the pastime to provide "solace" as she looks to re-establish herself as a global star following a much-publicised breakdown, according to the Sun newspaper.

Spears has re-launched her career and is currently touring North America with the Pussycat Dolls in support.

However, the 27-year-old gets straight to work on her plants when she returns to California, a source told the news provider.

"She's very proud and knowledgeable about what she's planted and what is growing around her home," it explained.

It is unclear whether the songstress grows under glass or has followed in the footsteps of first lady Michelle Obama by planting a kitchen garden.

Spears first graced TV screens as a child on the Disney Club, which also featured appearances from Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
