Sneak-a-peek at gardens hidden for 300 years

A garden that has been hidden from the world for 300 years is set to be opened to the public once more, according to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

Pentillie Castle in Cornwall was bought over by Ted and Sarah Coryton, who have been restoring the 17th century site with the help of Channel 4's Country House Rescue show.

The 70 acres of gardens and grounds that surround the Grade II-listed building were remodelled in 1809 by renowned landscaper Humphrey Repton, although they later fell into disrepair.

Part of Repton's creation was a walled kitchen garden, which the new owners' daughter Sammie Coryton intends to restore to its former glory.

Visitors to the site will be able to see how work is progressing ahead of its TV appearances, which are slotted in for April 12th and 13th.

The RHS recently revealed it will partner the government's We Will If You Will drive to encourage Brits to share gardening tips and grow and eat their own produce.
