Glasgow park set for renovation

18:54 10th February 2009

One of Glasgow's green spaces is set for a £2 million revamp after lying untouched for years.

The gardening and healthy living project at Elder Park in Govan will see what is believed to be the oldest building in the area renovated and a museum and botanical glasshouse erected, according to the Evening Times.

The move comes at the end of a long planning process, according to Linthouse Urban Village coordinator Ingrid Campbell.

"The city council approached the housing association and asked us if there was anything we could do with the farmhouse," she told the newspaper.

"We've been working on a proposal for two years which involves reinstating the building to its former glory."

As well as the farmhouse and the new glasshouse, a market garden and sensory garden or children's secret garden will be built.

The green space is located to the west of Glasgow's city centre just over a mile from Ibrox Stadium, home of Glasgow Rangers.ADNFCR-1545-ID-19019048-ADNFCR
