Organic Growers celebrate 13th year

North East Organic Growers (NEOG) is celebrating a milestone in its history; the society was founded in 1995 and 13 years later is still going strong.
Despite the fact that organic food is very much in the public eye today, things were different 13 years ago.
Very few had ever considered growing their own organic fruit and veg and information on the subject was not widely available, reports NEbusiness.co.uk.
The society stuck together and learned from books and their own experiences how to grow organic goods successfully and are still in business now after pioneering the popular organic veg box scheme in the North East.
The workers' co-operative looks to keep food local and shares the work load between its members.
Producing bags of fruit and veg for purchase, the NEOG should be an inspiration to gardeners looking to make use of their greenhouses.
