Eco-gardening to be showcased at Chelsea

17:35 19th May 2008

This year's Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show will be green in more ways than one, an industry commentator has stated.

Writing in the online pages of the Times in recent days, Annie Gatti states that one theme that will be present throughout many features of the event will be that of the environment.

Visitors will be given advice on a range of ecologically-aware issues, such as rainwater harvesting and irrigation systems, as well as how to tackle problems associated with climate change in their gardens.

Guests will also be able to see a green wall at close distance to see how effective they can be - as well as how good they can look, she explains.

"The driving force behind many of the show’s designs... appears to have been the desire to create a calm, contemplative space," Ms Gatti suggests.

It was recently noted that a garden dedicated to the life of former Beatle George Harrison will be featured at this year's event.
